Learning Chinese

Using the New Practical Chinese Reader series, I am learning how to read, write and speak Chinese. This blog has my course work and other samples of my progress.

Personal Intro

I have been helping people learn HTML (HTML 2, 3, 4, XHTML, DHTML, CSS) in the Ontario Community College system since HTML 2. I also help people learn a variety of other subjects, most of them have to do with computer skills. Since I have been doing this work since the early 1990s, mostly on contract, the list of courses is lengthy. Lately I have been attending some seminars and workshops to do with the art and science of teaching with a focus on the use of technology (since that's the area I work in).
I am learning about taking advantage of Kolb's Learning Styles to help all my students learn better and learn more.
I am learning about using one or more of: blogs, wikis, podcasts, Youtube and (one more) in the classroom both to engage students and help them learn.
I have used web pages to provide content to students since I learned how to use HTML 2. It seems natural to help students learn the technology by using the technology.
